On Saturday, April 11th, 2009, almost 80 volunteers joined forces with Mayor Walt Maddox, Council President Harrison Taylor, and 15 Environmental Service employees to clean up the area around Kaulton Park.

Over 300 bags of litter were collected along with enough bulky items to fill a city trash truck. Area residents responded to the clean up by bringing out old furniture and other trash for city crews to haul away.

Most of the morning was spent in a wooded area off of Beech Street. Volunteers spent hours cleaning out many years worth of discarded debris. Hopefully all of their hard work will allow residents of the Kaulton Park area to enjoy their neighborhood more and feel more at home in a clean and green city!

Special thanks to the Church of latter Day Saints who provided almost of of the volunteers for the event. Without you and your deep concern for this city and its citizens, this successful day would not have been possible!

Together we can build a bridge to the future.
